Stems to 25 m long, circular in cross-section; leaves bifid at juvenile stage, when adult pinnate, up to 1.2 m long; cirrus 60 cm long; inflorescences up to 35 cm long; flowers born in close sub-distichous pairs; fruits oblong, 2.5-3 cm long and 1.5-2 cm in diameter.
